Our high-mounted research facility on the Ihinger Hof site in Renningen covers an area of 0.36 hectares with a footprint of 70 x 52 metres and was installed in August and September 2025. The modules are installed on 5.5 metre high, screw-foundation supports and deliver a nominal output of 218 kWp. Around 30 % of the surface is shaded. Bifacial double glass modules were installed.

Agricultural use is carried out in 13 x 14 metre plots so that different crops or varieties can be grown and compared in parallel. Research is focussed both on economically important crops and on new, innovative crops.

Further research focuses:

The facility is used to investigate the effects of Agri-PV on:

  • Yield quantity and quality of different crops
  • Plant physiology, in particular the adaptation potential of plants
  • Microclimate, with a focus on water and radiation balance
  • Soil life and metabolism (carbon, nutrients, water)
  • Local biodiversity
  • Multifunctional use and the provision of ecosystem services
  • Agricultural and energy policy framework conditions and economic viability

The facility thus makes an important contribution to the research and further development of sustainable agricultural and energy concepts.
